Don’t ask me…

I ceased to care a long time ago.
What a bunch of arse, eh?
Yet again I’m on the verge of giving up videogaming as a hobby. The ratio of rubbish to excellentness is so high it’s becoming nigh-on impossible to find diamonds in the rough for me, and it doesn’t help being an utter cynic with a rapidly dwindling attention span.
So what have I “played” recently?
Dead Rising: Case West – Played through it a couple of times, would play it again, but no cunt on my XBL friends list has it, because not a single person I know has good taste in games.
Fist of the Northstar: Ken’s Rage – Which is fun for about an hour, mimicking the over-the -top violent stupidity of the Anime, until you realise to level up you’re going to have to play the same levels over and over again, and even if that wasn’t the case, all the levels look the fucking same.
Vanquish - Actually, I haven’t even put the disk in the drive, because I can’t be arsed. Played the demo though, and in my opinion, Platinum are one of the best development teams in Japan.
Rock Band 3 – Don’t stare at me like that. Yes. Rock Band. Firstly, it doesn’t have the negative stigma of Guitar Hero – For good reason, Harmonix put thought into it, unlike whichever trained monkeys Activision have hired that week, who’s process of game development is akin to throwing shit at a wall and seeing what sticks (here’s a hint: It’s all going to stick to the wall, it’s shit).
…And besides, all the casuals are bored of music games now. It’s a niche genre again, which automatically makes it better. It’s also a game I can play with real humans, because none of them will play Street Fighter with me, for some reason. I’m not sure if that’s because they are tired of the beatings, or just have bad taste in videogames. Ho Hum.
This week sees the release of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, which may be interesting, as I really liked the first.
Then again GRIN fucked up the full-priced follow-up, and the company went down the shitter… So Capcom have hired some other team to make this one (who may or may not have ex-GRIN members on the payroll), which means it might not be anywhere near as good. On the bright side, they haven’t got Backbone to make it, and Simon Viklund has composed the soundtrack.
Also: The main character is now sporting a bright ginger porn-stache.
