PGR4 being just like PGR3 non shocka.
After a bunch of badly encoded videos touting how much of a graphical "Step up" Project Gotham Racing is over its predecessor, I can now categorically state after seeing the demo, it's EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME.
(except for some very poorly simulated water droplets, by the way of just putting another couple of maps over the model)
Bizarre aren't to blame for this however. Not really. They are just doing the same shit they've been doing since MSR. So who, or more importantly what, is?

You see, back when we were all playing games through crappy analogue signals through ancient cathode ray tubes, they were like some magical window, distorting the output enough to make Pac-Man look round instead of the mass of squares above, and the minuscule incremental graphical updates of the last generation look like quantum leaps.
But now, with consoles outputting high def signals on high def screens in pixel for pixel clarity, you're going to notice how little really changes from update to update.
NOT FUCKING MUCH.

Yes. That's absolutely fucking right! But tell that to the cunts making games these days, because all I'm seeing is pointless gimmicky game modes suited to idiots that will mark out for anything, that get old and stale in 10 minutes flat.
Instead of intricate and involved gameplay dynamics which grow with you.
I was really hoping the downloadable market was going to be the place for that, Sadly, Wii Shop, XBLA, and PS Marketplace seem to be saturated with old emulated games instead of new material using the pick up and play arcade simplicity of those old games as a template. And because the idiots lap up all the emulated nostalgia (only to get bored in less than a week, shouting for the next title they've already played millions of times), New, original software gets either ignored or totally misunderstood (Space Giraffe: Case in point).

Got PGR 4 last week on import because I'm impatient. It's definitely the best on yet, but yeah it's hardly any different from the 3rd one. It's no MSR, that game was the business.
Games are shit now, I might quit gaming after Super Mario Galaxy (the only Wii game I'll own)
On another note I miss blogging, even though they're just as mainstream as youtube and myspace. I wonder what the next internet fad will be?
