As some of you may (or may not) know, I embark on the odd musical project now and then. So yesterday, after looking through my Last.fm log and remembering I had an artist page, I thought I really should add a bio of myself.
Naturally, in the spirit I'm usually accustomed to, I copy and pasted Charles Darwin's bio into the wiki box.
One of the moderator's Wasn't Impressed.
I then noticed he'd recently made a blog post on Last.fm wiki editing. Obviously, he's had a lot of trouble with L337 Speaking Myspace users, and I thought that I'd make a nice legible comment on the blog, proving I'm not like that, and I'm just having a jolly little jape for the expense of anyone who ever came across my Artist profile there, adding that obviously my brand of anarchy wasn't allowed (despite them having plenty of their own In jokes)
Obviously proving to him I could actually write grammatically correct sentences must've shocked him into not being able to form a response in any way. He just deleted the comment. The silly cock.
Now, It could be very easy right now to rip the piss out of HairMetalAddict. One look at that profile and you really start to wonder if he's real or another Hasslehoff style In-Joke.
I could maybe have a laugh about his anal views on Web Design, or the fact for the last 3 years, he's dedicated at least 1 hour every day, 1/16th of his waking life, listening to Alice Cooper, racking up 10,000+ plays (Not to mention all the other thousands of plays of other cock rock artists).
I could even tell everyone reading here with a scrobbler account should rename an MP3 "HairMetalAddict is a giant cock", make sure I'm labeled as the artist, and play it from time to time. But I'm not going to.
See, although he is a cock, it's not him I'm pissed with, but the failure of wiki in general to live up to its goal. As soon as you give people superuser/moderator status over others, the unbiased view and rights of the collective disappear. A wiki'd article's life should never, ever be in the hands of one person. Sadly, theres always some cunt with power, and they will use it.
At least Wikipedia has Wikitruth showing how corrupt the system can be. Other wikis arent as lucky.

It's fair to say that HairMetalAddict is a massive cunt.
I'm a member of a Last.fm group that SPECIFICALLY STATES that all members are cunts. Someone set up a logical offshoot group called "robbie edmonston is a cunt" (which he patently is) and we got all this vegetarian psuedo-Scandinavian wrath on our heads.
Identifying HairMetalAddict's aggressive antipathy towards meSpace, the same person then set up a group called "myspace fucked my wife, the group's avatar being HairMetalAddict's stupid Alice Cooper pic with "PUSSY" writ large across his head. She's now banned.
In summary. Poncy CUNT. AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY.

I'm a member of the same group as my anonymous friend. We're basically ALL CUNTS. But in a good way. A friendly way.
HairMetalAddict has now decided that we were abusing Robbie Edmonstone by setting up this group, even though Robbie hasn't said anything to CUNTCUNTAddict, in fact, he hasn't even logged into Last.fm for a week and the group was only set up today.
Now, while I can understand they might not want groups with certain titles, they have a 'Fuck Bush' group with 8790 members. I'm not one to ever stick up for George W, but how come that group doesn't get deleted for abusing the presidential CUNT?
In summary HairMetalAddict is a MONUMENTAL CUNT and we should take some form of action purely in the name of revenge. I'm not sure what we should do yet, nothing too major. Maybe ripping his ears off, kidnapping Alice Cooper or, as his most listened to song is 'Under My Wheels', run over the CUNT. With a steamroller.

Dude, we're thinking of doing what you suggest with the Artist/Title thing.
The shortest track length that'll scrobble on Last.fm is 30 seconds. If you had a PC set aside to play that on a loop for an entire week that means you get 20160 plays. From just one person.
The most popular track on Last.fm last week was Arcade Fire - Black Mirror with 42,554 plays.
If we could just get a few people together to play the special track on a loop then we could RULE the charts and send out a message to HairMetalCUNT.

his position at last.fm is unpaid and unofficial, and it's pretty obvious he's power tripping.
the weird thing about him (and the reason for my encounter) is that he has some idea that the only form of acceptable speech is glowing praise... it's this creepy kind of happy fascism. it doesn't seem to be the site's general policy, but he's in a position of power... of sorts.
and his manner of interacting with everyone (much of it in threads) is to be as insulting as possible. a petty tyrant. a hall monitor.
